Andy joins Caption Health with 25 years of experience at industry-defining healthcare technology and eCommerce companies. Most recently, Andy was the President and CFO of Livongo, a chronic disease management company that uses data to help people manage their health. Prior to that he was the President of 23andMe for four years and took them through FDA marketing authorization and launched the therapeutics initiative. His experience in health and technology is driven by a passion to fundamentally change the way we approach healthcare and make it accessible to all.
An entrepreneur and neuroscientist at heart, Charles is always looking for ways to solve the most impactful and challenging problems with technology. He has used his unique skillset of engineering, computer science, and neuroscience to co-found and lead Caption Health on their mission to bring deep learning to healthcare. Prior to founding Caption Health, he was an expert in deep learning at MIT and Berkeley and was a founding member of IQ Engines, acquired by Yahoo!.
Kilian co-founded Caption Health to create products that positively impact the lives of billions of people. As a research scientist and entrepreneur, he focuses on using deep learning to solve critical problems in healthcare. Prior to co-founding Caption Health, Kilian developed computational models of visual processing in both biological and artificial neural networks at UC Berkeley and was a founding member of IQ Engines.
Shara brings over twelve years of healthcare product management and marketing experience to Caption Health. Her expertise includes new product development for mature and emerging markets, as well as strategy development and commercialization. Shara has experience in a range of companies, from Philips, where she launched several novel healthcare products to Ascension Health, the largest non-profit hospital system in the U.S.
An engineer with a mission, Matthew is constantly looking to create technology that makes a huge impact. He has over 20 years’ experience at industry-leading companies like Box and Oracle, where the was the VP of software and CRM development. At Caption Health, Matthew is bringing his expertise in engineering and his passion for solving big technical problems to healthcare.
Originally from Norway, Yngvil brings more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry to Caption Health. Prior to joining Caption Health in 2017, Yngvil worked at Photocure where she designed and executed multiple pivotal clinical trials for a drug-device combination product that formed the basis for regulatory approval in both the US and EU. She also played an integral role in building a commercial organization in the US. Yngvil is a respected clinical scientist with excellent analytical and leadership skills.
Randy is an accomplished world renowned academic cardiologist who was a pioneer in noninvasive cardiology, and the role of ultrasound in cardiovascular diagnostics. He held faculty and clinical positions at many prestigious universities—including Stanford, University of Virginia, Mayo Clinic and Emory University Medical School where he was both Associate Dean and Director of Noninvasive Cardiology. Randy is a past president of the American Society of Echocardiography and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, and the European Society of Cardiology. Randy is also a prolific academician, with more than 200 publications. Randy also served as chief Medical Correspondent for Cox Communications and has received multiple Emmy nominations and awards including the recipient of the American Heart Association’s Howard L. Lewis Lifetime Achievement Award for Health Reporting.
Sam spent four years as a reviewer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the Division of Cardiovascular Devices, where he reviewed IDEs, 510(k)s, PMAs, and other submissions for cardiac electrophysiology devices, including the first FDA approval of a professional-use automated external defibrillator.
Michael comes to Caption Health with decades of experience bringing innovative medical devices to market. He founded and led Ecton and Penrith, startups that developed the world’s first portable, digital phased array cardiac ultrasound system and the first wireless ultrasound system. Michael specializes in product launches and M&A integrations with a focus on cardiology, radiology, and point-of-care technologies.
David is a Cardiac Sonographer Emeritus after working for 38 years at Duke University Medical Center. He retired in 2016 to pursue global medical missions, an area he feels passionate about. David recently received the ASE Distinguished Sonographer Teacher Award and the first ASE Sonographer Lifetime Achievement Award. Author and co-author of over 140 articles and book chapters, David is known worldwide for his insightful and humorous lecturing style. In 2016, The American Society of Echo started the annual Adams Global Service Award in his name. David has worked as a consultant for many major ultrasound companies including Caption Health for the past 3+ years.
